About the Wheel of Consent®

The Wheel of Consent®, developed by Dr. Betty Martin, is a transformational framework and embodiment practice that has reshaped how we understand consent, relational dynamics, boundaries, desire, and empowered choice. It is used globally in schools, universities, therapeutic programs, somatic practices, and community organizations.

This practice invites you into a deeply embodied understanding of your own agency. It supports clearer communication, healthier relational dynamics, and an increased capacity for intimacy — with yourself and others. Its impact is personal, professional, and systemic, touching touch dynamics, relationships, caregiving, sexuality, and broader conversations around power, safety, equity, and justice.

The practice is simple. The learning is nuanced. The impact is profound.

What You Will Learn and Practice

Across these two days, we will offer guided experiential practices, partner and group exercises, reflection, and gentle facilitation. You will develop embodied skills that support consent in all areas of your life:

  • Cultivate a felt sense of safety in your body and nervous system
  • Connect with what genuinely feels good, nourishing, and joyful
  • Notice, Value and Voice what you want, what you’re willing for, and what you’re not available for
  • Recognize habitual patterns of going along and learn to interrupt them
  • Recognize when others may be going along and honor their limits
  • Explore the four quadrants of the Wheel — two ways to give, two ways to receive — and discover the distinct gifts of each
  • Navigate power, trauma, and systemic oppression and their impact on our capacity to access choice and uphold boundaries (yours & others)
  • Skillfully express desires, limits, preferences, and choices with nuance
  • Learn to communicate with clarity, integrity, and relational presence
  • Strengthen self-trust while deepening connection with others

When integrated, this work naturally creates relationships grounded in clarity, ease, respect, and mutual understanding.

Why This Work Matters

Professionally, these tools support practitioners in creating trauma-sensitive, empowered spaces without burning out — allowing you to offer clearer boundaries, deeper presence, and more sustainable care.

Personally, the Wheel expands your self-awareness, your sense of choice, and your ability to experience intimacy, pleasure, and connection in ways that feel safe, nourishing, and true.

Training Aspirations

How we interact with each other in the space

  1. Confidentiality. Share only your own experience outside the room.

  2. All feelings are welcome. You do not need to justify or explain emotional processes. Hold others’ feelings with compassion rather than fixing.

  3. Share with intention. Listen with attention. Use “I” statements. Bring awareness to power, privilege, and care.

  4. Respect names and pronouns. Approach everyone with curiosity and avoid assumptions about identity or lived experience.

  5. Stay within the stated limits of each practice.

    • The workshop is fully clothed.

    • No requests or offers for unclothed, genital, or sexual touch.

    • Non-sexual touch practices are optional.

    • You never have to touch anyone you do not want to.

    • You may change your mind at any time — this is celebrated as part of the learning.

How we invite you to tend to yourself

  1. Beginner’s mind. Everything is an experiment in noticing. Take what serves you.

  2. Choosing is more important than doing. Participation can include doing, watching, journaling, pausing, or stepping out.

  3. Do not do anything you do not want to do.

  4. Self-care. Move, hydrate, rest, and resource yourself as needed.

This 3 hour immersive experience will leave you with lasting skills, an embodied somatic experience of your Authentic Desires and an elevated understanding about Consent.

The teachings are about ways to communicate more of what we want in life and learning how to navigate what we do not want or are not willing to do. Questions that the work focuses on:

- What blocks us from asking for what we want?
- What inhibits us from setting limits with others?
- How can trauma manifest itself in people pleasing or in overtaking without consideration?
- How do we reawaken the channels of nerve pathways to experience even more pleasure in our bodies?
- How do we navigate consent, within ourselves and with others?

This workshop is a blend of theory and experiential, body-based exercises. These are practices that are meant to be repeated so if you have taken one of Sarah Anne's workshops before, experiencing it again always allows new learnings to unfold!

Workshop participants will be able to:

- Strengthen their ability to sense and express their desires
- Become confident with making requests and respond to them
- Honour, appreciate and to celebrate No (hearing it and saying it)

The workshop is a sample of the amazing “Wheel Of Consent®” Practices. Sarah Anne will guide participants to set a container of safe enough, provide some incredible knowledge about Consent, Desires and Limits, introduce some highly impactful practices, and send all participants home with some homeplay practices to keep the learning going!

Who is facilitating:

Sarah Anne (she/they) is the Owner of Awaken BLISS. Managing a life of chronic pain and disconnection led her to a wellness career. She was introduced to dance in her early childhood, this gave her a place to express energy in motion (e-motion). Then came the practice of yoga, which united breath into conscious meditative movement. Thai Massage established a principle of Metta (unconditional loving kindness) that has shaped her life and career with dynamic energy in a dance of surrender. Enthusiastic Consent has now become the major vocation for Sarah Anne and guides them in family, intimate relationships, work relationships and any opportunity to engage with this way of living.  They are a Somatic Sex Coach troubling normal and infusing pleasure into their clients lives.  Join them with one on one coaching, group workshops, classes and online sessions.
